A lifetime of running has taught me a lot about myself as a person and what I am capable of. I want to share these things with you now.
Ban the self-limiting thoughts. A lot of times people put limits on their abilities and what they think that they are capable of achieving. By removing the negative and limiting thoughts when running you allow yourself to go on for longer and perform better.
Be true to yourself. When you race and don\'t perform how you want to, don\'t make up excuses; you can\'t run a personal best every time you race and unless you are extremely talented you can\'t expect to win every race.
Develop mental toughness. No matter how cold it is or how hard the race is going it will eventually end. This has cemented the \'pain is temporary while glory lasts forever\' mindset into my psyche.
Take strength from others. No matter how much you are hurting over the last mile of a race, take half a second to look around and see that everyone else is in the same boat as you. Push through everything that is limiting you and you will succeed.
Be goal driven. I love challenging myself, be it in business or in sport and every time I reach a goal, I reset and make a new goal to strive towards. I really do believe that sports and fitness are good for the soul. No matter how tough your day has been, no matter what is going on in life; a good run always seems to clear your head and relax a little bit.
